So it’s been really hot the past few days in Santa Cruz, well over 100 degrees. This has sparked several more fires. Here is a picture of the fire we had yesterday from the beach looking south. To make things even worse, and more bizarre, it started raining and thunderstorming. This is the second time I have written this post; while I was writing the first one, the power went out due to lightning (VERY unusual for Santa Cruz). The lightining caused at least 2 more fires. Because of the high fire danger the city has closed all public spaces, including delaveaga park behind our house. There is a $100 fine if we go to the park!
